Welcome to Cart Smarts
Congratulations to Will Scarlett and Mia Dougherty for being honored with the 2010 "Community First Award" for exemplary leadership to the golf community from the First Tee of Greater Sacramento.
They were given this honor for their work with Cart Smarts, a program they created while sophomores in high school to educate junior golf players and their parents about golf cart safety. Mia and Will designed and published a brochure called Be Smart With a Cart, then made it available to numerous golf organizations, free of charge. Organizations that have received their brochures include:
- The First Tee
- The First Tee of Greater Sacramento
- Junior Golf Association of Northern CA
- Northern CA Golf Association
- Future Collegians World Tour
- California Interscholastic Federation-San Joaquin Section
- The National Council For Better Health Through Golf
The two also established this site to tell others about their project and encourage people to take golf cart safety seriously.
